From July 29-31, 2014, the Columbia, SC Police Department (CPD), in collaboration with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and CNA, hosted a training session on Crime Analysis. The goal of this training session was to provide knowledge and skills for analysts to apply to their work on problem-solving for crime reduction and prevention. The session focused on policing and analysis definitions, practical examples, and application of analysis methods. It included exercises, class discussion, fieldwork, and application to specific crime problems in the local jurisdiction.
SPI Subject Matter Expert, Julie Wartell, delivered this training, covering the areas of problem-solving and analysis, data collection, fieldwork, evaluation, and knowledge dissemination.
