A policing model that makes a connection between crime and traffic safety is being used in some communities to curb law-breaking and reduce crashes, with promising results. Data-Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS) uses analysis of location-based crime and traffic data to establish effective methods for deploying law enforcement resources. It is a collaborative effort between the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the National Institute of Justice (NIJ).
