The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is pleased to share the FY23 Smart Policing Initiative (SPI) Program New Grantee Orientation! Catherine McNamee, BJA Senior Policy Advisor, presented this webinar on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 2PM ET to provide an overview of the SPI program; SPI supports available to new sites through BJA, and CNA, the SPI training and technical assistance provider; and BJA guidance on management of the sites' new grant award.
The SPI is a BJA–sponsored initiative that supports law enforcement agencies in building evidence-based, data-driven law enforcement tactics and strategies that are effective, efficient, and economical. SPI represents a strategic approach that helps police agencies figure out what works in crime prevention and crime reduction initiatives. The SPI solicitation is a competitive award available to public law enforcement agencies that are seeking to develop and implement innovative policing approaches to address emerging or pressing issues in their communities.
