St. Louis, Missouri
Project Overview
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) will leverage existing technologies and reorganize its police response to create two matched experiments for the SPI project. They will explore the benefit of an enhanced response to gun-related incidents in gunfire hotspots and compare results against similar communities. The SLMPD will also randomize locations and create a Randomized Controlled Trial to explore the strength of a data-driven, place-based approach in reducing gunfire issues. They hope to leverage existing technologies and capabilities and enhance their utility by developing promising approaches. SLMPD also hopes to explore whether data-driven innovative approaches to acoustic gunfire data can enhance the response and prevention of gun violence. Lastly, the SLMPD will use the SPI project to implement two new approaches to reducing gunfire.
