The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), which is part of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), launched the Smart Policing Initiative program in FY 2009 to help law enforcement agencies and researchers test evidence-based, data-driven law enforcement tactics and strategies that are effective, efficient, and economical. Seventy-three agencies and research partners have been funded by BJA for 93 SPI projects. An overview of all funded SPIs can be viewed here.
