The Smart Policing Initiative presented a webinar on “Offender Notification Meetings for Crime Prevention and Control." Edmund McGarrell, Ph.D., Director and Professor of the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University, and a research partner for Lansing SPI, facilitated this online seminar. He led a discussion and learning session primarily focused on the planning, implementation, and follow-up of offender notification meetings, with attention given to the experiences of a large number of communities that have implemented these meetings. In addition, the webinar touched on the background on the logic model behind these meetings, a brief review of the research, and the link between problem analysis and call-in meetings as part of an overall strategy for addressing specific crime problems.
